Area Chair for Computer Science and the Vicky Joseph Professor of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences

Salil Vadhan is the Area Chair for Computer Science and the Vicky Joseph Professor of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics in the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.  He received his Ph.D. from MIT in 1999 under the supervision of Shafi Goldwasser.  Vadhan’s areas of research in theoretical computer science include computational complexity, data privacy, cryptography, and randomness in computation.  He also leads the interdisciplinary Privacy Tools Project at Harvard, in which computer scientists, legal scholars, and social scientists collaborate to enable safe sharing of privacy-sensitive data.  His honors include a Harvard College Professorship, a Simons Investigator Award, a Godel Prize, and a Guggenheim Fellowship.
