Sarah Spence Adams earned her Ph.D. and M.S. in mathematics at Cornell University, where she was also a member of the Wireless Intelligent Systems Laboratory in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She is currently Professor of Mathematics and Electrical & Computer Engineering at Olin College of Engineering, where she has been since Olin welcomed its first class in 2002. After serving as the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Development for the past three years, she is the current Special Advisor to the Provost. Previously, Sarah led a research program focused on mathematical structures used in wireless communications systems and conducted research at the Institute for Defense Analyses, Center for Communications Research and the National Security Agency. She is passionate about progressive education, and devotes time to facilitating positive change along the K-16 spectrum, including through volunteer work on the Board of Directors at Riverbend School, a Montessori school in Natick, MA.
