Graduate Officer and Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), MIT

Leslie Kolodziejski is the Graduate Officer and is responsible for graduate admissions and graduate fellowships.  She is Chair of the Committee on Graduate Students in EECS. She has responsibility for working with graduate students from the time of matriculation until graduation, to ensure a successful and rewarding graduate experience. In addition, she has been faculty leader for the MIT University Center of Exemplary Mentoring program since summer of 2016.

Professor Kolodziejski received the EECS Graduate Student Association Graduate Counseling Award, the Capers and Marion McDonald Award for Excellence in Mentoring and Advising from the School of Engineering at MIT, the “Committed to Caring” citation from MIT’s Office of Graduate Education, and the Faculty Ambassador Award from the Office of Multicultural Programs at MIT.

Professor Kolodziejski joined MIT in 1988 as Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering, moving to the rank of Full Professor in 1999. She has served as EECS Graduate Officer since 2010. She serves on a number of Institute Committees, currently chairing the Committee on Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response. She has also served as Associate Chair of the Faculty for two years from 2015 to 2017. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in materials science at Purdue University in 1983 and 1984, and completed her PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, again at Purdue University, in 1986. Her research involves the design, fabrication, and testing of photonic devices and the integration of active photonic materials with CMOS electronics.  She is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America.
